Dear Colleague and Friend:
Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic we had a mental health crisis. However, since the pandemic hit with the lockdowns, racial trauma, the riots, the vaccine rollout, and more, it has turned into a mental health disaster. According to the CDC – mental health issues are skyrocketing, 40% of U.S. adults now report struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues. The numbers are staggering.
People everywhere are exhausted, emotionally shot, and in need of hope! That is why we launched the:
In light of the widespread mental health crisis, our 2021 expanded mission is to educate, equip, engage and reach 5,000 churches/congregations to join in this effort and to train 22,000 Mental Health Coach First Responders through our 40-hour, three-course, biblically-anchored and evidenced-based program. Our focus is on serious mental illness, and the courses are taught by some of the world’s leading mental health and ministry experts. To our knowledge, this is the first faith-based peer counseling/coach program available in America and around the world.
The video-based instruction is available 24/7/365 through our innovative and robust ON-DEMAND platform and comes complete with lecture notes and exams. Nearly 3,000 have already graduated and are serving others. Students will receive a certificate of completion for each course completed. After completing the three classes, each student will also be eligible to become certified as a Mental Health Coach through the International Board of Christian Care.
Since we announced the launch of the program, the response has been extraordinary! Nearly 5,000 churches have enrolled, and over 13,000 students have signed up to begin taking classes.
Part of our mission is to help eradicate the silence, shame, and stigma around mental health issues, and to develop mental health ministries in and through these local congregations. The one place where people need to feel “safe and cared for” should and must be the Church. We are praying that God will use this work to help take a huge step in that direction.
We are pleased to announce that the “Dare2Care” Global Church and Mental Health Initiative is being anchored by the following CHARTER churches: |
